Good things.
In this material world, too often what are considered the good things in life relate to over-abundance, A big house, big car, big bank account, indulgences. In view of all these luxaries, too often the little things that are important can be taken for granted, things like a clean glass of water, fresh air, the clothes on our backs, the basic foods that we eat. Paul noted: "If we have food and covering, with these we shall be content." - 1 Timothy 6:8. God is good in so many ways and has blessed us with so many things that too often can be overlooked; let's take the time this day, and every day to thank Him for the good things which He has freely given us.
Let him that is taught in the word communicate unto him that teacheth in all good things.- Galatians 6:6.

stars
Been way too long since I updated this, 6 months so needless to say alot of water under the bridge. Summer is almost offically over and it is the beautiful month of September. It was a good summer, one unfortunate incident that LORD willing is being worket out, but overall, really can't complain, actually give much thanks for all the goodness that has come from above. I hope that this finds all well with the reader, thanks and glory to the LORD, may He allow us to shine as the stars forever ...
And at that time shall Michael stand up, the great prince which standeth for the children of thy people: and there shall be a time of trouble, such as never was since there was a nation even to that same time: and at that time thy people shall be delivered, every one that shall be found written in the book. And many of them that sleep in the dust of the earth shall awake, some to everlasting life, and some to shame and everlasting contempt. And they that be wise shall shine as the brightness of the firmament; and they that turn many to righteousness as the stars for ever and ever. - Daniel 12:1-3.

Purim.
On Saturay at sundown, the Jewish feast of Purim began. This is a celebration of the events found in the book of Esther. The book of Esther tells of the resuce of the Jewish people from the wicked Haman, by God through Esther and Mordecai. While there are many different elements to the celebration of Purim, the four main ones are 1.) listening to the public reading of the book of Esther in the eveningh and again in the morning. 2.) Sending gifts of food to friends. 3.) giving charity to the poor; and 4.) A festive meal. The beauty of the book of Esther is that it shows that the true child of God is always in the hands of God and not the enemy. It shows that God can miraculously deliver His people from the enemy. While it is true that a child of God can suffer and even be killed, that is all that mankind can kill is the body, God will save the soul of a saint and bless them with the gift of eternity in heaven.
But he is a Jew, which is one inwardly; and circumcision is that of the heart, in the spirit, and not in the letter; whose praise is not of men, but of God. - Romans 2:29.

Always There to Lend a Helping Hand.
Part of being humble is recognizing the fact that as sinful humans, we are but a mere "worm"; without God, one is but dust that eventually will be blown away in the wind. Even in our low estate, at times when someone makes an unexpected positive comment about you, it can really make you feel good inside. One thing thatI remember to this day, is the comment made about me by the class and editor in our 8TH grade yearbook. The comment described me as one "always willing to lend a helping hand"; and after having read that it encouraged me to do so all the more in the future, or at least try my best thru God working in me. I think I found the statement quite honorable because it contained many "key words" such as: always, willing and lend. In turn, how comforting it is for the Christian to know that God is always there to strengthen and help us. How much more could He than by having Jesus be mocked and crucified for His people, to save them from their sins. One evidence of God truly working in someone is their continued willingness to help others. Take a few moments of your time dear read to reach out and help someone who is in need, strive for loyalty; strive for honor and be the best you can be through God working in you; encourage and love.
Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness. Behold, all they that were incensed against thee shall be ashamed and confounded: they shall be as nothing; and they that strive with thee shall perish. Thou shalt seek them, and shalt not find them, even them that contended with thee: they that war against thee shall be as nothing, and as a thing of nought. For I the LORD thy God will hold thy right hand, saying unto thee, Fear not; I will help thee. Fear not, thou worm Jacob, and ye men of Israel; I will help thee, saith the LORD, and thy redeemer, the Holy One of Israel. Behold, I will make thee a new sharp threshing instrument having teeth: thou shalt thresh the mountains, and beat them small, and shalt make the hills as chaff. Thou shalt fan them, and the wind shall carry them away, and the whirlwind shall scatter them: and thou shalt rejoice in the LORD, and shalt glory in the Holy One of Israel. When the poor and needy seek water, and there is none, and their tongue faileth for thirst, I the LORD will hear them, I the God of Israel will not forsake them. I will open rivers in high places, and fountains in the midst of the valleys: I will make the wilderness a pool of water, and the dry land springs of water. I will plant in the wilderness the cedar, the shittah tree, and the myrtle, and the oil tree; I will set in the desert the fir tree, and the pine, and the box tree together: That they may see, and know, and consider, and understand together, that the hand of the LORD hath done this, and the Holy One of Israel hath created it. - Isaiah 41:10-20.

Christmas 2006.
It's been too long since I updated this blog, over three months, No real excuse, but alot has passed over the three months, my dad had a mjor operation, quadruple bypass (open heart surgery) at St. Michael's hospital in Newark on October 13th. Much thanks and praise to God that we were blessed with a wonderful Surgeon, Dr. Connelly, who the LORD blessed with very skilled hands and thanks to the LORD and also the intercession of the saints who prayed, my dad made it thru the surgery and was home by the second week in November after a week in the hospital following surgery and then three weeks in a rehab facility. Been busy driving for my parents and trying to be patient in all things. So now it's Christmas time, looks like another Christmas eve alone by myself, but I will be counting the blessings I do have and they are many; being alone is definately not a good thing on Christmas eve, but if I did have to pick something good about it, I'd say, it surely shows one another aspect of the spirit of Christmas and you also know you are there, in case anyone else should need someone on Christmas eve. May our LORD bless you with wisdom and peace.
"The voice of the LORD shaketh the wilderness; the LORD shaketh the wilderness of Kadesh. The voice of the LORD maketh the hinds to calve, and discovereth the forests: and in his temple doth every one speak of his glory. The LORD sitteth upon the flood; yea, the LORD sitteth King for ever. The LORD will give strength unto his people; the LORD will bless his people with peace." - Psalm 29:8-11 |

Birthdays.
In the Bible, there aren't too many detailed references to birthdays. Interestingly enough the four that are mentioned in detail provide quite a contrast. Pharoah's birthday is mentioned in Genesis 40:20 and the evil king Herod is said to have a birthday celebration in Mark 6:21. On the other hand, some very holy men are spoken of as cursing the day of their births, both Job (Job 3:1-11) and Jeremiah (Jeremiah 20:14,15). This serves as a reminder that as Christians we are merely pilgrims on a soljourn on this earth, filled with sorrow and afflictions. As the saying goes each day is the first day of the rest of our lives, our lives which eventually end in physical death. But for the children of the LORD, the promise is given of eternal life in heaven. Remember to keep in mind that regardless of the past, each new day offers a new opportunity to be the best we are and to share our goodness with mankind, a chance to strive to be lovely and pleasant in our lives, a time to let our heartlight shine bright, and live not just for the goodness of ourselves, but others; to be good Samaritans, and to pray to God for the strength to be like Christ.
"So teach us to number our days, that we may apply our hearts unto wisdom. Return, O LORD, how long? and let it repent thee concerning thy servants. O satisfy us early with thy mercy; that we may rejoice and be glad all our days. Make us glad according to the days wherein thou hast afflicted us, and the years wherein we have seen evil. Let thy work appear unto thy servants, and thy glory unto their children. And let the beauty of the LORD our God be upon us: and establish thou the work of our hands upon us; yea, the work of our hands establish thou it." - Psalm 90:12-17. |

Prince David's life & ours.
Prince David was a spiritual "type" of the LORD Jesus Christ, see Ezekiel 34:20-26 (David was already dead at this time of this prophecy by Ezekiel); in turn as members of the body of Christ, we who are children of Christ compose this body. Like the afflictions believers encounter, think of what David encountered, he had many hardships, lived in caves, had both true very close friends such as Jonathan, yet, many false friends and enemies as well: "Yea, mine own familiar friend, in whom I trusted, which did eat of my bread, hath lifted up his heel against me." - Psalm 41:9. This would also serve as a prophecy of Christ's betrayal by Judas. David's family and own children caused him huge grief and affliction. He was troubled by at times being both rich and poor. He was both lonely and popular at times. But one thing is for sure, he was a man dedicated to prayer. As our lives suffer afflictions, it is always good and theraputic to read the Psalms and look to the trials of Prince David, and how God showed goodness in mercy toward him. Happy September and joy to all.
"My flesh and my heart faileth: but God is the strength of my heart, and my portion for ever." - Psalm 73:26. |

Mercy.
Of all the beautiful gems in the Bible, what we know as the Sermon on the Mount and Beatitudes, which starts at Matthew 5 is among the most elegant. In Matthew 5, the LORD Jesus speaks of mercy. This is an important part of the abundant Christian life as spiritually it ties in deeply with wonders such as: Christ's mission, faithfulness, regeneration, prayer, hope and salvation to name but a few. We live in a world filled with many hardships because it has been tainted with sin. Much is a deep mystery as to why good-hearted people often suffer and the material things of the world often come to the wicked as if they were falling off trees into their arms. Although we often cannot understand mysteries of a spiritual nature; the beatitudes are concise and direct. Dearly beloved, take the time this week, this day, this moment to think upon mercy; but not only think upon it, strive to make strides and leaps to improve the mercy in your life that you show unto your neighbor. If every single person were merciful, what a wonderful world it would be. Obviously, this will never come to fruition; but let there be peace on earth and let it begin with each and every one of us.
"Blessed are the merciful, for they shall receive mercy. - Matthew 5:7. |

Afflictions.
Almost all true Christians suffer afflictions. Some more often than others, some more servere than others. This is the nature of the Christian life; to carry our crosses and fix our eyes upon Jesus. This also refutes the false "health & wealth" gospels so prevelant these days which promise the unsuspecting a life with no hardship if they turn to Christ; a bogus gospel indeed. Affliction is a synonym for oppression or misery. Jesus, Paul, Job, David, the early Christian martyrs and many other saints we read of in God's Word suffered servere afflictions and offer an example to us today. When we suffer afflictions dear reader, lets us turn to our God YHWH, the God of Jacob, through Christ in prayer and the reading of His word; the true and infallible Holy Bible. May your afflictions be light according to God's will and may the LORD watch over each and every one of His children until the glorious day we experience heaven.
He delivereth the poor in his affliction, and openeth their ears in oppression. - Job 36:15.

Memorial Day.
It's been too long since I've updated this blog; over two months. Not alot new and exciting to say. Would like to just take a moment to reflect on Memorial day; not just for those who have been honorable enough to lose their lives in battle, but of all past memories: friends, people whom we have loved and lost, co-workers and anything in general that we look back upon and remember. As we look back, let us at the same time look forward and pray that LORD willing, it will be a good summertime this year; one of joy, peace and love. May God bless each and everyone of His people.
"And when he looked on him, he was afraid, and said, What is it, Lord? And he said unto him, Thy prayers and thine alms are come up for a memorial before God." - Acts 10:4.

Springtime.
It's finally springtime and it sure feels like it, there's a decent amount of rain showers in the extended forecast, but I don't mind, actually it's my favorite time of year, spring and summertime. I am more of a warm weather guy as opposed to the cold. Wish I had alot of good news to report, but no news in better than bad news, oh well on with this life albeit a bit boring for now. God bless & peace to all.
" "Come, let us return to the LORD. For He has torn {us,} but He will heal us; He has wounded {us,} but He will bandage us. "He will revive us after two days; He will raise us up on the third day, That we may live before Him. "So let us know, let us press on to know the LORD. His going forth is as certain as the dawn; And He will come to us like the rain, Like the spring rain watering the earth." " - Hosea 6:1-3, nas.

St. Patrick's Day Parade.
Today my hometown had its annual St. Patrick's Day parade which is one of the biggest events of the year in the area. In the past, the parade usually encounters not the greatest weather, but this year you couldn't ask for a better day, it was mostly sunny and hit 68 degrees, almost record highs for here in the Northeast United States. I hadn't gone in the last few years because it always struck me as a family thing that I could not relate to being depressed, lonely and in reproach. I did however go this year and it was ok. I hung out in front of one of the two parade "hot spots" knows as Captain Hook's Inn (Klees is the other); lots of people in view of the weather, perhaps about 75,000; but the papers will report the official numbers tomorrow. I thought of the parade that will one day occur in Zion, where there will no longer be depression, rejection, lonliness, tears or reproach. A time when the sons of those who afflicted the righteous will come and bow before them, a time when there will no longer be any violence, a time when there will not be day and night but the LORD will be an everlasting light; a time when all the people there will be righteous; a time when the smallest one will become a clan and the least one a mighty nation. Am I making this all up? no. It's all described in Isaiah 60 an excellent and wonderful chapter in God's Word the Bible. I urge you to take a few moments and look at Isaiah 60 dear reader, and think upon the glorified Zion.
Your gates will be open continually; They will not be closed day or night, So that men may bring to you the wealth of the nations, With their kings led in procession . - Isaiah 60:11.

The sorrow of life.
Mankind is but a mere pilgrim in this voyage known as life. A voyage that for all too many is one filled with labor and sorrow. By the sweat of our labor we eat our bread and encounter numerous troubles along this journey and perhaps the days we look forward to will be cut short and one will not live out half our days. Indeed, soon life is gone and we fly away.
As for the days of our life, they contain seventy years, Or if due to strength, eighty years, Yet their pride is {but} labor and sorrow; For soon it is gone and we fly away. - Psalm 90:10.

Love the LORD all you HIS saints!
Today is the day that the world calls Valentine's Day; but wouldn't it be nice if every day we celebrated love? A last minute miracle may be possible, but it looks like I will be alone again this year on this day. I hope that is not the case for most; I hope and wish that everybody could spend this day and as much time as possible every day with someone they truly love. Loving others of course is just a secondary love as our first and foremost love should be manifested toward the LORD; we love Him because He first loved us. Peace be with you.
lots of love to all in Christ.
O love the LORD, all ye his saints: for the LORD preserveth the faithful, and plentifully rewardeth the proud doer. - Psalm 31:23.

30,000 Fish
Today was a bit of a milestone for the website as it officially notched it 30,000TH hit; all to the praise and glory of God! Got a little bad news concerning returning to my home which was destroyed by a fire in April, the building inspector said the contractor has to put down a flood barrier (this is mostly dirt) underneath the house before he issues the certificate of occupancy. I have been counting the days and now it looks like I may have to count a week or more longer, I just want to be back home already, but I do thank God that I do have a home to go back to.
Faith, hope & love to all in Christ.
Again, David gathered together all the chosen men of Israel, thirty thousand. - 2 Samuel 6:1.

7 years.
Today is the 7th anniversary of the Quiet Earth website. Up until this point my only regret is not putting more time and efforts into the site; but I do pray that the LORD will provide the opportunity to share His words, the Holy Bible here for another 7 years or longer.
To infinity & beyond! ....................................................................

Fiery Trials
Its been over 9 long months since April 11, 2005, the day I watched my home burn down. As with any serious trials in life, I do realize that there will be more, but I have learned alot from this one. Being a poor person, I didn't have much, but what I had I lost; my computer, clothes and some personal sentimental items I had acquired over the years that just cannot be replaced. Thankfully I did have insurance, perhaps not enough but my home is being rebuilt and I may be back home by the first of February, in the meantime I am counting the days.
God bless everyone.
Beloved, think it not strange concerning the fiery trial which is to try you, as though some strange thing happened unto you: But rejoice, inasmuch as ye are partakers of Christ's sufferings; that, when his glory shall be revealed, ye may be glad also with exceeding joy. - 1 Peter 4:12,13.

Friendship
In this blogs first entry, I'd like to write a little bit on the subject of friendship. This is a pretty important subject because it's not good for people to be alone; anyone, young, old, rich, poor, anyone. There are many types of friends one can have, some are false, treacherous, dangerous and unfaithful. On the other hand, some are true and close.
The value of friendship includes: constructive criticism, helpful advice, being valuable in time of need and always being faithful.
The tests of friendship are: continued loyalty, likemindeness and a willingness to sacrifice.
How good of a friend are you dear reader? Take the time to learn from your failures and successes when it comes to friends, always be there and be the best you can be and live for the good of others!
""This is My commandment, that you love one another, just as I have loved you. "Greater love has no one than this, that one lay down his life for his friends." - John 15:12,13.
