"And he healed many that were sick of divers diseases, and cast out many devils; and suffered not the devils to speak, because they knew him." (Mark 1:34)
In Mark Chapter One there are many events that point to God's plan of salvation. Among others, these include the preaching of John the Baptist, the temptation of Jesus and the miracles of Jesus. The preaching of John the Baptist paved the way to the start of Jesus' earthly ministry. This event was predicted about seven hundred years prior to it now unfolding at the start of Mark's gospel:
"The voice of him that crieth in the wilderness, Prepare ye the way of the LORD, make straight in the desert a highway for our God." (Isaiah 40:3).
"Behold, I will send my messenger, and he shall prepare the way before me: and the Lord, whom ye seek, shall suddenly come to his temple, even the messenger of the covenant, whom ye delight in: behold, he shall come, saith the LORD of hosts." (Malachi 3:1).
"Behold, I will send you Elijah the prophet before the coming of the great and dreadful day of the LORD: And he shall turn the heart of the fathers to the children, and the heart of the children to their fathers, lest I come and smite the earth with a curse." (Malachi 4:5,6).
Another event that portrays God's salvation plan is the temptation of Jesus. Jesus would be tempted severely but would not give way to temptation. Whereas Adam and Eve could not pass this test and caused the fall of the human race. Christ has won the battle over satan and will win the war of good over evil in the end. Only Christ could do this and in doing so He offered even more proof that He is the Saviour. Jesus used the word of God to fight off satan. By doing this we have a wonderful example as well, that being, like Christ, we must use His word the Bible to fight off temptation.
One other event in Mark Chapter One that portrays God's salvation plan that I would like to quickly look at are the miracles of Jesus. Jesus healed Simon Peter's mother in law, many in the area who were sick, diseased, demon possessed and a leper who proclaimed the gospel freely after his healing. These are a few among many of the miracles of Jesus that gave proof of His divinty. Only Jesus could walk on water and rise from the dead. His miracles are important by the miracle of His resurrection we have hope and know this guarantees the coming judgement:
"And the times of this ignorance God winked at; but now commandeth all men every where to repent: Because he hath appointed a day, in the which he will judge the world in righteousness by that man whom he hath ordained; whereof he hath given assurance unto all men, in that he hath raised him from the dead." (Acts 17:30,31).
