Today we look at a lesson that deals with troublemakers contrasted with peacemakers. The fact that deceit is in the heart of the who devise evil in a spiritual sense points to those who come with false gospels. Very often those who bring deceitful doctrine look very much like a true Christian. They will quote scripture and appear on the surface as genuine when in reality they are not:
"For such are false apostles, deceitful workers, transforming themselves into the apostles of Christ. And no marvel; for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light. Therefore it is no great thing if his ministers also be transformed as the ministers of righteousness; whose end shall be according to their works." (2 Corinthians 11:13-15).
The second half of our proverb tells us that the true child of God will possess a heart filled with joy. As we bring the gospel of peace in Christ, we are filled with joy knowing that we are saved even at times when we are suffering intense afflictions from the world. We can take comfort in knowing our trials are but temporary and one day we will have eternal rest in Heaven with the LORD Jesus. In Ephesians 6, we read this exhortation to Christians:
"Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness; And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace; Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked." (Ephesians 6:14-16).
