Today we look at a proverb that points to the quality of live in a saved individual. Christ is the very essence of righteousness (2 Timothy 4:8; 1 John 2:1,29; 1 John 3:7; Revelation 16:5); and that is how Christ is ssen shining through in this proverb; it could just the same teach: the way of Christ is life; ....". And that also harmonizes with John 6:63. One comforting part about the new birth in Christ is that it is a fact that we can be saved and know it:
"He that hath the Son hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life. These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God." (1 John 5:12,13).
Those who obtain righteousness through the free grace of Christ may suffer servere afflictions in the present life but can rest assure of eternal life in the comfort of heaven. That is what we read of in the latter part of the proverb that speaks of no death; death meaning spiritual death here of course. So in summary today's proverb is teaching that the way of Christ is the pathway to eternal life, and in this we can take much comfort. In heaven there will be no more death, tears or sorrow, only joy:
"And I John saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband. And I heard a great voice out of heaven saying, Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and he will dwell with them, and they shall be his people, and God himself shall be with them, and be their God. And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away." (Revelation 21:2-4).
