Quiet Earth Fellowservants of Christ

Proverbs 13:13

"Whoso despiseth the word shall be destroyed: but he that feareth the commandment shall be rewarded.".

Today we read a proverb that gives a lesson which parallels the fates of the unsaved with a true believer. The Word we know is the LORD Jesus Christ:"In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God." (John 1:1). Christ alone serves as the only Mediator and Saviour who can pay for an individuals sins; when He saves a person by His grace, they will truly recognize Him as Saviour. In Matthew 10 we read:

"Whosoever therefore shall confess me before men, him will I confess also before my Father which is in heaven. But whosoever shall deny me before men, him will I also deny before my Father which is in heaven." (Matthew 10:32,33).

The second half of the proverb tells us that those who fear the commandment shall be rewarded. The commandment is the entire Bible, the Word of God which contains all of Gods commandments; likewise as we have just noted the commandment too points to Christ as the Word. The reward or repayment to those whom by grace come to fear Christ is spiritual prosperity. Those who have an ear, let them hear: stand upon the promises of God, surely He is powerful, just, gracious and compassionate and He will repay those who have been made righteous:

"Evil pursueth sinners: but to the righteous good shall be repayed." (Proverbs 13:21).
