Today we encounter a proverb relating to the seriousness of life. As we go through life we will experience a wide range of emotions, but eventually everyones life gives way to death and this is a very serious subject. We live our life from day to day and each day appoints a time for everything. As we all know some days will be far more memorable in our lives than others:
"To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven: A time to be born, and a time to die; a time to plant, and a time to pluck up that which is planted; A time to kill, and a time to heal; a time to break down, and a time to build up; A time to weep, and a time to laugh; a time to mourn, and a time to dance; A time to cast away stones, and a time to gather stones together; a time to embrace, and a time to refrain from embracing; A time to get, and a time to lose; a time to keep, and a time to cast away; A time to rend, and a time to sew; a time to keep silence, and a time to speak; A time to love, and a time to hate; a time of war, and a time of peace." (Ecclesiates 3:1-8).
On the last day all who have ever lived will be judged according to their spiritual deeds. Those who have Christ as a Saviour have their sins covered by His blood and will go to eternal happiness in heaven, those who have trusted in anything other than the grace of our LORD will be judged and found guilty; they will never again laugh due to the seriousness of their situation; they will be doomed for eternity future. That is why as we bring the gospel into the world we do so with tears. Those who do not proclaim Jesus as Saviour, find grace and do His will will no longer have any hope:
"Turn again our captivity, O LORD, as the streams in the south. They that sow in tears shall reap in joy. He that goeth forth and weepeth, bearing precious seed, shall doubtless come again with rejoicing, bringing his sheaves with him." (Psalm 126:4-6).
