Here we have a Proverb that contrasts true believers with false prophets. As Christians, believers are commissioned to go into all the world with the gospel. A true witness is a child of God who has been sent forth by the LORD as an ambassador of the gospel of Christ. Before Christ ascended back to heaven, He gave this instruction:
"When they therefore were come together, they asked of him, saying, Lord, wilt thou at this time restore again the kingdom to Israel? And he said unto them, It is not for you to know the times or the seasons, which the Father hath put in his own power. But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth." (Acts 1:6-8).
Because faith comes from hearing and hearning from the Word of God, a true witness will in this sense deliver souls to Christ by the Holy Spirit working through Word witnessed in truth; God does the delivering; we are simply used as a part of this deliverence as we declare the gospel of peace in Christ. On the other hand a deceitful witness is a false prophet, they come speaking lies which is in full accord with their father satan who is the ultimate liar. A true Christian will be used bythe LORD in His process of witnessing the gospel and saving lives, those who lie about spiritual truths are literally treacherous. Jesus said:
"Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me." (John 14:6).
