Quiet Earth Fellowservants of Christ

Proverbs 15:12

"A scorner loveth not one that reproveth him: neither will he go unto the wise.".

Here we read a proverb that points to the wickedness of the self-righteous who are unteachable and love not reproof. True believers gain spiritual knowledge thru years of study, and not hastily. This teaching is important and is found in many places throughout the Bible. It also points to pride and a lack of humility:

"A wise son heareth his father's instruction: but a scorner heareth not rebuke." (Proverbs 13:1).

This was characteristic of the vanity and oppression of many hypocrites in old testament Israel who had gone apostate. As we go into all the world with the gospel of Christ we must not attack but should avoid these troublemakers and keep our focus on the LORD Jesus. God knows all things and He will deal justly with the wicked. Seek Him and He will deal with the wicked:

"Seek him that maketh the seven stars and Orion, and turneth the shadow of death into the morning, and maketh the day dark with night: that calleth for the waters of the sea, and poureth them out upon the face of the earth: The LORD is his name: That strengtheneth the spoiled against the strong, so that the spoiled shall come against the fortress. They hate him that rebuketh in the gate, and they abhor him that speaketh uprightly." (Amos 5:8-10).
