Today we look at a proverb that relates to God's secret providence. The king here is a reference to the LORD Jesus who is King of kings and Lord of lords. Only if by His grace His face should shine upon us as the sole means of salvation, Jesus alone. Job, who is a spiritual portrait of the Lord Jesus declared this parable:
"To me they listened and waited, And kept silent for my counsel. "After my words they did not speak again, And my speech dropped on them. "They waited for me as for the rain, And opened their mouth as for the spring rain. "I smiled on them when they did not believe, And the light of my face they did not cast down. "I chose a way for them and sat as chief, And dwelt as a king among the troops, As one who comforted the mourners." (Job 29:21-25)
Note the elegant nature of God's Word declaring His favor like a cloud with the spring rain. Dear reader, is the gospel of Christ raining upon your life? It should be. Yield now and be at peace with Him:
"And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen." (Matthew 6:13).
