Today we look at a proverb that identifies with spiritual wisdom. Material goods and wealth are part of a world that is rapidly fading away, but the kingdom of heaven abides forever. All the money and goods an individual accumulates during their life cannot be taken with them. And no one is immune to death; an individual can die at any moment. Should you die this moment, do you have a Saviour?
"Precious in the sight of the LORD is the death of his saints. O LORD, truly I am thy servant; I am thy servant, and the son of thine handmaid: thou hast loosed my bonds. I will offer to thee the sacrifice of thanksgiving, and will call upon the name of the LORD. I will pay my vows unto the LORD now in the presence of all his people, In the courts of the LORD'S house, in the midst of thee, O Jerusalem. Praise ye the LORD." - Psalm 116:15-19.
Wisdom and understanding come through God's holy word, the Bible alone and in its entirety. This is wisdom that leads to eternal life in all who are saved in Christ. Money can buy many things but spiritual wisdom is priceless. The Holy Spirit works through God's word in the redemption and sanctification of the sinner; this is a gift of grace that all the riches in the world cannot purchace; therefore dear saint rejoice and be glad even among afflictions!
"What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us, who can be against us? He that spared not his own Son, but delivered him up for us all, how shall he not with him also freely give us all things? Who shall lay any thing to the charge of God's elect? It is God that justifieth. Who is he that condemneth? It is Christ that died, yea rather, that is risen again, who is even at the right hand of God, who also maketh intercession for us. Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? As it is written, For thy sake we are killed all the day long; we are accounted as sheep for the slaughter. Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us. For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord." - Romans 8:31-39.
