Quiet Earth Fellowservants of Christ

Proverbs 18:10

"The name of the LORD is a strong tower: the righteous runneth into it, and is safe.".

Today we read a proverb that relates to the mystery of God's providence. Who is the name of the LORD that is a strong tower? The LORD Jesus Christ. He is the Word of God; in Him dwells all the fullness of the Godhead bodily and in Him all things hold together:

"And God said moreover unto Moses, Thus shalt thou say unto the children of Israel, The LORD God of your fathers, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob, hath sent me unto you: this is my name for ever, and this is my memorial unto all generations." (Exodus 3:15).

"For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him: And he is before all things, and by him all things consist." (Colossians 1:16,17).

A true child of God will only run to Christ if He is drawing them. It is altogether by the grace or unmerited favor of God that an individual truly becomes saved according to the Bible. That is why the individual who has had all their sins past, present and future washed away can only attribute their new life to the LORD Jesus. But wonderfully, one can be saved and know it! And when they are they too can declare in truth:

"The LORD is my rock, and my fortress, and my deliverer; The God of my rock; in him will I trust: he is my shield, and the horn of my salvation, my high tower, and my refuge, my saviour; thou savest me from violence." (2 Samuel 22:2,3).

"The LORD also will be a refuge for the oppressed, a refuge in times of trouble. And they that know thy name will put their trust in thee: for thou, LORD, hast not forsaken them that seek thee." (Psalm 9:9,10).
