Proverbs 23:4,5

"Labour not to be rich: cease from thine own wisdom. Wilt thou set thine eyes upon that which is not? for riches certainly make themselves wings; they fly away as an eagle toward heaven.".

Here we read a warning against covetousness. Even though one may acquire millions or even billions of dollars, they can enjoy it for a little while but they too will die and when they do their money will not do them any good when they are deceased. Having enough to get by without luxury or vanity is all that we need physically; spiritually we must store our treasure up in heaven. The wonderful thing is that heaven is for eternity future; riches are not:

"For riches are not forever, Nor does a crown endure to all generations." (Proverbs 27:24) nas.

Like an eagle that flies toward the heavens so too will riches and the material things of the world pass away shortly. As we go further into these last days lets our focus be upon the LORD Jesus and not the riches of life. Let us continually thank, praise and offer up our prayers in His name in the blessed hope of heaven for eternity future. In the New Testament we also have a dire warning concening the misuse of riches where in 1 Timothy 6 we read:

"Charge them that are rich in this world, that they be not highminded, nor trust in uncertain riches, but in the living God, who giveth us richly all things to enjoy; That they do good, that they be rich in good works, ready distribute, willing to communicate; Laying up in store for themselves a good foundation against the time to come, that they may lay hold on eternal life. O Timothy, keep that which is committed to thy trust, avoiding profane and vain babblings, and oppositions of science falsely so called: Which some professing have erred concerning the faith. Grace be with thee. Amen." (1 Timothy 6:17-21).
