Today we look at a proverb that concerns witnessing the gospel. True children of God are commissioned to be witnesses of the gospel of Christ, but we are further given instruction in the gospel we bring about in what manner we are to bring it. As believers we are instructed me must only go so far when we bring heavenly doctrine and it becomes the subject of debate and false insinuations and accusations. In the last days there will also be many mockers, this too is reason why we should pray that our LORD keep our feet from evil; another proverb notes:
"Speak not in the ears of a fool: for he will despise the wisdom of thy words." (Proverbs 23:9).
Perhaps the most dramatic illustration that directly relates here is found in Matthew' gospel where Jesus instructs us not to cast our pearls before swine. There is no productivity speaking to a wall, there are billions of others in the world that need to be reached with the gospel and in nedd of the compassion of Christ if by His grace. Therefore our focus should be on trying to reach those in need of Christ who will gladly welcome the good news, we must have faith in the assurance that our witnessing will not return void. This is part of a servants gospel mission:
"Give not that which is holy unto the dogs, neither cast ye your pearls before swine, lest they trample them under their feet, and turn again and rend you." (Matthew 7:6).
