Today we read a proverb that is a warning and instruction on holy living. The wicked here are the unsaved. When they rise with their false teachings, the righteous will stay out of their way knowing that being involved with the wicked will only bring about persecution and contempt for the true saint. The importance of this proverb is not to be overlooked as we see this is the second time in the same chapter of proverb that this instruction is given:
"When righteous men do rejoice, there is great glory: but when the wicked rise, a man is hidden." - Proverbs 28:12.
When the wicked are elevated, the good man will seek refuge in Christ, the solid rock on which we stand. The elevation of the wicked will increase their foolish and swollen pride and their uselessness will be evident. The last days will be filled with wickedness and believers will be forced further into the spiritual wilderness so remain steadfast in the doctrine of Christ, continuing in prayer without ceasing. Let not His widom working in you thru His Word cease:
"The wicked strut about on every side When vileness is exalted among the sons of men." - Psalm 12:8
