Proverbs 29:7

"The righteous considereth the cause of the poor: but the wicked regardeth not to know it.".

Here we read a contrast between a righteous person and a wicked one. The poor are the spiritually poor. The true child of God considers the cause of the poor by bringing the gospel to them. In the gospels of Matthew and John, Jesus said:

"Blessed are the poor in spirit: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven." (Matthew 5:3)

"I am the living bread which came down from heaven: if any man eat of this bread, he shall live for ever: and the bread that I will give is my flesh, which I will give for the life of the world." (John 6:31).

By contrast, the wicked refer to those who suppress the gospel; they do not consider the cause of poor in that they are being a stumblingblock to the unsaved of the world. These are people who attempt to descredit the Bible such as teachers and professors who teach the theory of evolution to young minds as opposed to the truth that God created the universe; but it also includes those who bring false gospels and anyone that would hinder the cause of Christ. Our LORD warned His children that stumblingblocks would come in their lives, but to those who bring such, Woe to them!:

""Woe to the world because of its stumbling blocks! For it is inevitable that stumbling blocks come; but woe to that man through whom the stumbling block comes! " (Matthew 18:7).
