Quiet Earth Fellowservants of Christ

Call to Worship

But take ye heed: behold, I have foretold you all things. But in those days, after that tribulation, the sun shall be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light, And the stars of heaven shall fall, and the powers that are in heaven shall be shaken. And then shall they see the Son of man coming in the clouds with great power and glory. And then shall he send his angels, and shall gather together his elect from the four winds, from the uttermost part of the earth to the uttermost part of heaven.

Now learn a parable of the fig tree; When her branch is yet tender, and putteth forth leaves, ye know that summer is near: So ye in like manner, when ye shall see these things come to pass, know that it is nigh, even at the doors. Verily I say unto you, that this generation shall not pass, till all these things be done. Heaven and earth shall pass away: but my words shall not pass away. But of that day and that hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels which are in heaven, neither the Son, but the Father. Take ye heed, watch and pray: for ye know not when the time is.- Mark 13:23-33.

Psalm 19:7-14

The law of the LORD is perfect, converting the soul: the testimony of the LORD is sure, making wise the simple. The statutes of the LORD are right, rejoicing the heart: the commandment of the LORD is pure, enlightening the eyes. The fear of the LORD is clean, enduring for ever: the judgments of the LORD are true and righteous altogether. More to be desired are they than gold, yea, than much fine gold: sweeter also than honey and the honeycomb. Moreover by them is thy servant warned: and in keeping of them there is great reward. Who can understand his errors? cleanse thou me from secret faults. Keep back thy servant also from presumptuous sins; let them not have dominion over me: then shall I be upright, and I shall be innocent from the great transgression. Let the words of my mouth, and the meditation of my heart, be acceptable in thy sight, O LORD, my strength, and my redeemer.

Here in Psalm 19:7-14, Yahweh is used seven times. This is an interesting Psalm because whereas YAHWEH is used seven times, the LORD's name is from the Hebrew 'el in verse 1 of the Psalm. Take a moment to read these verses in Psalm 19 aloud. What do these verses imprint upon your heart? They speak of the wonderful works and Word of God. The saint has so much to be thankful for because God has given us His written Word. It is altogether everlasting truth.

"Thy word is true from the beginning: and every one of thy righteous judgments endureth for ever." - Psalm 119:160.

The precepts of our LORD are right and pure.

"Therefore I love thy commandments above gold; yea, above fine gold. Therefore I esteem all thy precepts concerning all things to be right; and I hate every false way." - Psalm 119:127,128.

"The words of the LORD are pure words: as silver tried in a furnace of earth, purified seven times." - Psalm 12:6.

There is no end to the wonderful meditations and prayers that our LORD displays for us in His works and Word. Surely, they are to the heart of a true child of God more precious than material goods and sweeter than the finest honey:

"The law of thy mouth is better unto me than thousands of gold and silver." - Psalm 119:72.

"Therefore I love thy commandments above gold; yea, above fine gold. Therefore I esteem all thy precepts concerning all things to be right; and I hate every false way." - Psalm 119:127,128.

"How sweet are thy words unto my taste! yea, sweeter than honey to my mouth!" - Psalm 119:103.

God's Word serves as warning to His servants for our training in righteousness, stop and think about this, the mercies and compassions of our LORD surely do not fail His servants. Overwelming beauty!

"Concerning the works of men, by the word of thy lips I have kept me from the paths of the destroyer. Hold up my goings in thy paths, that my footsteps slip not. I have called upon thee, for thou wilt hear me, O God: incline thine ear unto me, and hear my speech. Shew thy marvellous lovingkindness, O thou that savest by thy right hand them which put their trust in thee from those that rise up against them." - Psalm 17:4-7.

"As a piece of a pomegranate are thy temples within thy locks. There are threescore queens, and fourscore concubines, and virgins without number. My dove, my undefiled is but one; she is the only one of her mother, she is the choice one of her that bare her. The daughters saw her, and blessed her; yea, the queens and the concubines, and they praised her. Who is she that looketh forth as the morning, fair as the moon, clear as the sun, and terrible as an army with banners?" - Song of Solomon 6:7-10.

The Psalmist instructs us that there is no greater reward than peace with God that leads to inner purity.

Verse 12 in our text of Psalm 19 further goes on to give this marvelous statement: "Who can understand his errors?". Oh my, how often is this idea repeated in the Bible! Let's go to Psalm 139 and discover more beauty and wonder:

"Thou hast beset me behind and before, and laid thine hand upon me. Such knowledge is too wonderful for me; it is high, I cannot attain unto it." - Psalm 139:5,6.

Verse 13 of Psalm 19 then goes on to teach a mighty lesson on salvation by grace alone and divine providence. Note that the Psalmist writes: "Keep back thy servant also from presumptuous sins". God will keep our feet and forgive our sins, it's all in His hands and He is infinately good; again, how wonderful are the mysteries and forgiveness of our LORD?

"Good and upright is the LORD: therefore will he teach sinners in the way. The meek will he guide in judgment: and the meek will he teach his way. All the paths of the LORD are mercy and truth unto such as keep his covenant and his testimonies. For thy name's sake, O LORD, pardon mine iniquity; for it is great. What man is he that feareth the LORD? him shall he teach in the way that he shall choose. His soul shall dwell at ease; and his seed shall inherit the earth. The secret of the LORD is with them that fear him; and he will shew them his covenant." - Psalm 25:8-14.

Without God one is left vunarable and destined for destruction in a hopeless state. He alone is our hope, our rock, our Redeemer, therefore let us praise Him to the ends of the earth .... Praise the LORD!

My meditation of him shall be sweet: I will be glad in the LORD. Let the sinners be consumed out of the earth, and let the wicked be no more. Bless thou the LORD, O my soul. Praise ye the LORD. - Psalm 104:34,35.
