With each new day that dawns God is calling His people everywhere to turn to Him; an appointed day of judgement is coming for mankind. The judgement will be resided over by Christ. Although we do not know when this day will be we do know that presently God is calling mankind to repent. Christ arose from the dead, ascended to Heaven and will come again to judge in truth and righteousness:
"And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me." (Matthew 25:40).

The life of Jesus was humble from the time of the manger in so much that even on that night there would be no room for Mary and Joseph at the inn:
"And she brought forth her firstborn son, and wrapped him in swaddling clothes, and laid him in a manger; because there was no room for them in the inn." (Luke 2:7).
His birth around 2,000 years ago has given mankind the greatest possible question to ask, namely, who is this Child born in a stable to you? His birth, life, death and resurrection have been celebrated for the past 2,000 years. Countless books have been written about Him and each time we look at a calendar we know that all of history past, present and future centers around Him.
As we read our text in the gospel according to John we learn that Jesus is:
A. The eternal Word of God.
With all the wonderful things we learn about Jesus we never can even come close to understanding the significance of His mercy because we only see through a mirror dimly now and so much more about Him will be known when we are in Heaven with the LORD.
"Who being the brightness of his glory, and the express image of his person, and upholding all things by the word of his power, when he had by himself purged our sins, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high" (Hebrews 1:3).
"For in him dwelleth all the fulness of the Godhead bodily." (Colossians 2:9).
Christ is full of love, mercy and grace, yet on the other hand wrathful against sin and hypocricy.
"God, after He spoke long ago to the fathers in the prophets in many portions and in many ways, in these last days has spoken to us in His Son, whom He appointed heir of all things, through whom also He made the world. And He is the radiance of His glory and the exact representation of His nature, and upholds all things by the word of His power. When He had made purification of sins, He sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high" (Hebrews 1:1-3).
Jesus came as God in the flesh. He is the LORD, lovely, and the One whom we worship. Let us dwell continually on the lovliness of Jesus and let such knowledge continually burst afresh in our lives. Anyone who regards Jesus as less than Saviour is lost and hopeless unless they repent of such a way.
Jesus came and suffered to give eternal life to His children. He did not have to do this, but He came and experienced fatigue, hunger, thirst, sadness, tears, temptation, rejection, persecution and finally death.
Jesus was a man of sorrows, He was often rejected and still is by the vast majority today. No one can earn acceptance to Christ; His grace is the radiance of salvation offered as a free gift to those who receive His unmerited favor; Christians are given the right to be called children of God. Christ altogether does the giving, we earn nothing, we cannot earn nothing because we are born spiritually bankrupt to sin and suffering.
The evidence of one being a true child of God will be seen in their life which will be one of hope, prayer, compassion toward others and an overall doing of God's will. In contrast, the evil of the world will not have Christ to bear their sins. The weight of sin will be on their own shoulders and a penalty will be paid for eternity.
All of us will live for eternity and it will be in one of two places, heaven or hell. Jesus alone brings the key to Heaven through His resurrection. The death and resurrection of Jesus provide hope and assurance to those whom the LORD saves. Words cannot describe the riches of this blessing.
In closing, we see that this baby lying in a manger about 2,000 years ago is He who created the universe billions of light years in size. He is the One who created the human body and fashioned it wonderfully with a respiratory system, circulatory system, brain, limbs, eyes and so many intracate parts time and space permits even a modest list of. Christ is the way, the truth and He is life. When Jesus arose from the dead, He proved that there is life beyond the grave through Him. Heaven and hell are as certain as the resurrection of Jesus. The world may laugh and scoff now, but when death comes, who will take their hand and lead them through the valley of the shadow of death? Without Jesus, there is only certain doom.
Dear reader, trust Him today if you hear His voice. He will lead you into the paths of righteousness. This is the reason why the Child was found lying in a manger in Bethlehem almost 2,000 years ago. Amen and Amen.
